Some ideas for the future of Jonathan that were sent to me:

Besides the obvious changes that are needed in promoting the future of Jonathan, instead of the destruction of Jonathan, here are some other ideas that are being tossed around....

  • To have babysitters at the monthly meetings and annual meetings so that mothers and fathers of children could join in the proceedings of the board and feel confident that their children are being taken care of.
  • Start a monthly newsletter, that could be distributed via the internet, by mail, or by a monthly cable TV broadcast

  • Here is an idea that I have that will take some looking into.
I would like to take the interest earned on the dues not spent, and put it into a fund for high school seniors that live in Jonathan to apply for a scholarship for college.  It may not be a large scholorship, $500-$1000, however it would be giving back to our community.

  • Community parking area or storage area for the campers, boats, trailers, and snowmobiles that many of us have.
  • MAINTAIN the trails!
  • Find an interesting and creative way to use the Eitel House, such as; a community art studio where artists pay a nominal fee to use the studio, or have art lessons there taught by local artists.  Or, a locally run coffee shop, possibly run by the teens of the area.  Or, another idea is for local musicians to practice there and hold concerts.  What ideas do you have?
  • Have neighborhood gardens
  • Plant trees in the Clover Ridge area
  • Find new (old) ways to use Lake Grace
  • Create new signs for numbered neighborhoods
  • Really promote the neighborhood clean up dates by having each neighborhood do something fun afterward; picnic, bands, bbq.

Keep sending those emails and I will add to the list of things we can do to enhance Jonathan!

Here is a link to watch the Jonathan February Annual Meeting.  You can come to your own conclusions.  (Maria, Mike, and I (the three pro-Jonathan candidates) are speaking toward the end.)
